Each character in the base game can choose from five core specializations per profession, while accounts with Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns gain access to one elite specialization for each profession.

(Guild Wars 1). Tl;dr: Why are some skills/traits unlocked when we logon the first time and can we reset (the pre-unlocked ones) to choose what we get?As many of you know, when you log into a 'legacy' character, you seem to have some skills and traits unlocked. While this is nice if you're already level 80, not all of us have all our characters at level 80 (IT'S NOT MY FAULT, I LIKE HAVING ALL MY ALTS THAT I NEVER GET ON).However, this brings up a problem. We log onto these characters and have irrefundable skills and traits pre-selected for us.
If I could get some insight into why I have these skills and traits pre-bought or a method to undo them (at least on Legacy characters), that would be helpful. It's awkward trying to level up and realizing (upon reading and testing in PvP Lobby) you have an entire Traitline unlocked when you want nothing to do with it. For understandable reasons, they chose to unlock the skills and traits that characters were previously using. For some less obvious reason (that may or may not be a bug) they made it so it spends every single hero point rather than letting us choose how to spend the additional amount. We cannot reset because it is not a 'spec' per se but the availability of a spec (metaspec?). Maybe they could resurrect the profession NPCs to allow refunding the hero points for a steep amount of gold, but I don't see it happening (other games don't do it, but then they usually automatically unlock options to spec into as you level).

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge so here goes.I have recently noticed that hero challenges (NOT commune hero points) are repeatable daily for everyone, even toons which already have the point. Not only is it repeatable, but once a day it will count as an event completion and give you rewards (XP+KARMA+map currency). In TD I received 10 ley-line crystals per HP.I assume this is meant to be an incentive to help on this group Hero Points as they do provide a reward to those whom already have it. For myself I find that a small HP rotation with a few people on the map every day makes many people happy and provides myself with a decent amount of rewards (map currency). What I have not tested is if they are reset per 24 hours, or at reset time, so do keep that in mind. For AB I like to do1) Mushroom dude by the first WP2) Arrow head by North Tarir3) Eastwatch, go NE and climb the shroom-ramp thing4) Eastwatch, go SE and take the bouncy shroom5) Chak Hollow, South-ish and up the ramp6) Southwatch to Balthazar if you have a few people with you. VB1) Spawn WP, glide down to the one at the bottom of the map2) SW WP near next zone, glide NE to the Champ on the little platform thing3) Faren's Flyer WP, climb the vine and glide over to the Security Golem. The Vampire dude is a bit hard to get to to be worth the farm.
TD1) Troll dude by Order of Whispers waypoint isn't too bad if you can find him.2) Ogre Camp WP, take Nuhoch Wallow to SW. This is also very close to the Ley-Line Run adventure3) West from there (or take Dragon's Passage WP) and find the updrafts for the Mordrem Shadow dude there.4) Ogre Camp, follow stream into the cave, take updrafts to the guy near the Bloodseekers?5) Teku Nuhoch, up and around towards the west-ish, ramp up to a cave.
