Weapons and shields (hand slot equipment) can be modified through the introduction of various technological and magical elements, called Mods. These Mods are typically integrated into pre-defined slots or hard points on an item through a simple procedure that can be performed by any adventurer. Whether found or fabricated, Mods improve or alter the abilities of the item they are placed into. The modification of an item commonly results in a corresponding change in its silhouette, such as a clip extending from the stock of a rifle.

London 2038 is a completely free, non-commercial, fan-made, volunteer-run private server project to bring back classic Hellgate: London multiplayer as it was in 2007-2009. We are currently in open alpha. We are not the owners or copyright holders of Hellgate: London! We are just fans running a server which allows players who own the game to.

Although any character can apply a Mod, a character will need to return to a station and use a Delux De-Modificator to remove the mods once they are installed. There is a fee associated with using the Delux De-Modificator, however it ensures that the weapon and it's Mods are separated safely.There are six types of Mods, as listed below.

In the year 2038, during the world’s weakest moment, demonic forces invaded the Earth. In order to survive, the human civilization was forced to live underground.

A new alliance was formed under the tunnels of London. Its mission is to fight against the evil force that threatens the Earth. This Alliance is composed of Templar Knights, Arcane Cabalists and Demon Hunters.

In Hellgate: London, the player controls one of those three forces to reclaim the surface of the Earth. Each force is divided into two different factions, making a total of six distinct classes. They are the Blademaster, Guardian, Marksman, Engineer, Summoner, Evoker.

The player can enjoy the unique combination of role-playing and the adventure of a first person shooter. To save the humanity from extinction, there are lots of evil opponents to defeat.

Hellgate: London boasts its infinite ability to be replayed. No two gaming experiences can be played in the same way. This is made possible with the dynamic levels, huge selection of random items, and a lot of quests and missions.
